Sunday 6/07 Left the dock at 8 am a little late for a Bass and Blue jig trip . Truth is not everyone is geared up for fishing at 4am and Alex and hs guys were into a nice easy RELAXING 1/2 day. We were furtunate and found some bird life around the can the life was scattererd but we found some fish set up in a small area and each drift provided some nice action on blues to 7lbs and bass to 10 lbs . Lots of short bass but some 29 to 30 inch fish as well. The temps on land were unbearable but it was great on the water with a cool breeze . I have not had the chance to run a trip in a while and it was great to get out and show the Alex and the boys some Good fishing.
Saturday 5/24 Another great trip from with the Fonte Bon Hall Fishing Club. Mr. Gruber and the girls had a blast Slaying the blues on both jigs and chunks .They released 3 time they kept . The club is really conservation minded. Captains Timmy and Tommy were amazed the girls were fishing in a slaughter and never once did he here an eww its bloody the Kids fished like champs. The prize of the day was a 30lb bass on a chunk I asked who landed the brute and was told it was a group effort . Great Kids one and all

The Marilyn Jean II will be returing to her berth Friday and we plan to start fishing Saturday weather permitting . The boat had tons of work done this spring to make her prettier than ever. The fwd cabin got a slight make over with new Gloss white walls and new decking and the heads got re done as well with white frp walls, new sinks and redone decking. the aft cabin got its deck redone . Sundays trip was better in both Quality and Quantity The little current made for a somewhat pickey Bite But With 6 rods in the water we managed 25 or so Nice Keepers with a few fish in the 8 lbs class. Bait is getting to be an issue with many dead crabs in each bag and many big soup crabs as well . We have managed to keep a decent supply so far and with luck will have enough to get through the last few weeks of the season . With the numbers of Cod being caught we will also be trying to keep some soft bait on board when we can.

We fished a few drops offshore of 17 with no luck on the crabs for Tog, not even a short. The Ling fishing did not fare much better with just 8 decent Ling landed for 4 anglers. By around 1pm the guys had had enough even though it wasnt too bad on the hooks the sloppy conditions and less than stellar fishing did us in , so we headed back. Well since I started with the nice ride out I will end with the rough ride home . And it was a rough ride.
Thursday 02/22/07 High winds prevented us from venturing to the offshore seabass grounds but all the anglers on the trip decided that an inshore blackfish and ling combo would be fine so off we went. The togging was slow on the greens and whites but the ling cooperated hitting clams later on in the day . Six anglers had 3 keepers tog and 10 shorts released and 50 to 60 ling .
Sunday 02/18/07 While I was at the N.Y.S.F show in Freeport meeting alot of fine Fishing Folks. Capt. John had 6 hearty souls out . We are carrying some soft bait and will try for ling on days the Blacks dont cooperate. we still have Grens and whites for those who do not care to catch Ling.

We hung a new anchor at the dock so all is well.

Saturday 11/18/06 Mike, Ozzie, Phil, Matt And Neil Chartered the boat for a day of Toggin 3 of the 5 were new to the game, but after a few lessons held their own in a picky bite. The fish were fairly cooperative in the am on the ebb tide but shut down on the flood . Both whites and greens had there moments. Neil and his son Matt combined for 10 Keepers to 8 lbs while Phil and his dad Ozzie had 8 to 6lbs Mike had 7 keepers to 7 lbs . While skip worked the deck I produced 8 fish between 4 and 9 lbs . Thursday 11/16/06 The weather man was close today but we snuck one in anyway . Even though we warned of sloppy condition Shawn and the guys wanted to go. So we poked our nose out around the jetty and it was Ok . Sloppy but ok. It was one stop shopping with fish on from the moment we anchored up. The guys (4) all had multiple limits Keeping just there limit of the bigest fish. In the sloppy conditions neither Capt. or crew fished but kept things going smoothly on deck. Each of the guys had at least 1 fish over 8 with 3 between 10 and 12lbs. The picture really dosnt do them justice cheap disposable. By 1pm the sea was growling and with 40 fish in the boat and another 50 released we packed it in and headed for home. With the following sea the ride in was very comfortable. 60 ft of water 53 degrees , Ebb tide and white crabs greenies were not welcome today.
Wednesday 11/15/06 What a difference a day makes , Fishing was great today we made 3 drops and caught them on every one . 3 anglers landed better than 60 keeper Black fish to 11lbs . The only fish we kept were 5lbs and up (except for a few that were hooked deep and bleeding)And we still had our limit of 30. We had 8 fish between 8 and 11 lbs and 22 between 5 and 7 pounds it was super fishing . At least 30 fish between 3 and 6 lbs were released as well the few shorts we had. Whites out fished greenies in both quantity and quality. The fish bit on both tides in around 50 ft.

After a day of trying a few different areas down the south beach Timmy was HH with 12 keepers keeping his limit, Joe took home 7 with the pool a fat 6lbr, Donald took home 5 and Capts. Neil and Joe had 5 between them. The bite was a little picky , But the company sure was fine and it was a nice warm fall day . Moved over by the islands in 12 to 20 ft at the end of the tide and 6 guys had 34 fish on strips and spearing in a few hours They bit through the slack. Most of the fish were short but the boys did land a few keepers at just 18" and Tom lost a nice fish in the 20" on top. When the tide came strong it was over there. Made a move over by West bank just a few shorts .Then the guys decide to call it a day ( a few were a bit Quesy) This was one of our 3 sch. Take a kid fishing trips. THE GUYS TIRED OF THE FLUKING PRETTY QUICKLY SO I GAVE THE BASS ANOTHER SHOT WE WENT BACK AROUND ROMER AND CAUGHT A FEW MORE BLUES , WHEN THE TIDE CAME ROUND THINGS GOT SLOPPY AND THE BITE DIED. ON THE WAY HOME I GOT A CALL FROM A PAL THAT THERE WERE SOME BIRDS WORKING A LITTLE EAST OF OUR JETTY SO I WENT AND TOOK A LOOK WE, WOUND UP WITH A NICE MESS OFF BLUES (20) AND ONE 32 INCH BASS ON THE JIGS AND WE RELESED A FEW SHORTS. THE BEST OF THE ACTION WAS IN THE HEART OF THE EBB TIDE. AROUND 1:30 THE ACTION DIED SO WE MADE A FEW DRIFTS WITH SPROS AND BUCKTAILS DRESSED WITH PORK RIND BUT THAT DIDN'T PAN OUT SO WE HEADED FOR THE BARN.

Tuesday 05/02/06 I was out with Flounder, Joe, and Mike tonight . We had good fishing as soon as we got anchored up but it was almost the end of the out going water. As soon as the tide started to flood and run up into the wind the action died. Fishing with bunker chunks we managed 2 keeper bass to 36" and a few shorts as well as a mess of blues to 5lbs.

Tuesday 04/11/06 Just 1 guy fishing today had 10 keeper flounder and 5 shorts as well as 2 small bass (released) Started off the day on PB flats had 4 shorts (released). So We shot over to the shoal where we had bigger fish on Sunday it kinda paid off had 8 fish to 14", not as big as Sundays fish but keepers all the same , and the 2 short bass. Made a move back towards PB to try a spot I wanted to try on the flood tide got 2 more for the limit and called it a day. Most of the life was on worms , tried fishig some of those artificial blood worms with NO LUCK.
Sunday 04/09/06Chris , Jay and their guys combined for 9 fat flounder up to 16.75 inches with Jay having both the big fish and high hook with 3. While Charlie Marty and Sal didn't fare as well landing just 4 between them . Add in Johns 2 for a total of 15 keepers . No shorts were caught today and over all the fish were bigger.
Thursday 04/06/06Had just a few guys today. So we fished J Bay . Incoming tide in 12 ft of water produced 12 keepers to 15" and 6 shorts, not to bad for what guys were saying was a tough day. Water was a little cold after that snow yesterday thing should perk up a bit by the weekend.
Friday 03/31/06After aother brief layup to complete the sping maint. Me and George took a trip to Raritan Bay to check out some of the hot flounder spots. Yes I know we were a day early , So last night I called the N.Y DEC to check and see if a NY boat on a RECREATIONAL trip could fish legally in N.J waters and low and behold they said yes as long as I either landed my catch in NJ or released What we caught. Then I got to have the same conversation with the guys on the DEC boat on my way to the bay (boarded as we made our way across). Although they didn't seem to happy about it, they agreed after a bit that , It was ok. After all that We finally got to fish . Anchored up on the 1st drop and after about 15 20 mins we had our first flounder photographed and released then 3 more in a fast flurry all 12 to 15 inches. Then the big let down 45min later and not another bite. Spent the rest of the day making around 6 more drops to catch 4 more fish all 13 to 15" except for one 10" all gently released unitl tomorrow.
Friday 03/24/06The offshore trip we had going for today did'nt quite get off the ground so we made an exploratory , Catch and Release Stipper trip to check out a few of our early season spots in the Great Kills and Key Port areas. Things seem to be shaping up ok. Drifting worms and a few clam bellies we wound releasing 15 fish up to 26 inches . The water temp was a little cool but when we found warmer water fishing was pretty good.
Wednesday 03/08/06 Hope today isn't a sign of days to come. Had a full boat (6) out for a day of Blackfishing and we knew right away it was going to be tough 1st 3 drops had no life. Then the next 5 weren't much better I think this was our 1st goose egg on the Blacks. Wound up with just a hand full of ling. I think we could have done ok if we targeted the ling but the group were die hard blackfishermen and wanted no part of ling fishing. Guess were going to d a little dock work over the next few days then see what shakes loose inshore. We are booked Saturday. But are planning some additional offshore trips ( see the nor east.com premium sponsors board for more info ) for the following week
Tuesday 03/07/06Only 3 out of the expected 6 anglers showed for todays trip.We did'nt have the hart to tell Mr. Shin and his guys that we would'nt be going especialy on such a beautiful day so off we went with the 3 off them. Fished a few drops on 17 with out much luck . Then we tried in the deep no luck there either.Tried fishing some early season spots and that was a bust too. Wound up with a dismal 4 blackfish and 4 ling. And thats all she wrote for today.
